One of the most iconic climbs of the Tour de France and first featured in 1969. It is currently categorized as HC or Hors-Categorie due to its length, difficulty and many steep sections of 12.5% gradients. There are several ways up to the summit but the most difficult approach is from La Chambre on the D213. From this approach, cyclists will ride up 19 km at an average gradient of 8% until the summit is reached at 2,000 meters! In 2025, both the men's and women's Tour de France raced over the Madeleine. This design is dedicated to Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, who raced masterfully past everyone on this col to win the stage race and gain the overall lead and won the entire 2025 Tour de France Femmes!
