Alpe d'Huez Borne

Bornes are stone road markers which were placed along roadways in France indicating the route number and destination in kilometers to the next city or mountain top.  They have mostly been replaced by road signs, but the famous stone bornes do exist on the major climbs in the Tour de France.  Here is one in Bourg d'Oisans for the famous climb up to Alpe d'Huez.  Bornes are the inspiration for our ball caps and coffee mugs for your favorite climbs from the Tour de France.
